Experiences with the Random Search

The random search on Monday, September 24, 2007, in Untalan Middle School, was very unexpected. Mrs. Taitingfong came in our classroom with other teachers to help inspect. They told us to empty out our bags. Christian said, “I felt violated.” They had a search to see if anyone brought in items that are not supposed to be brought to school. We couldn’t bring weapons, drugs, permanent markers, white-out, electronics, etc.

However, six students were referred. Some of them were referred because they had white-out and electronics. Some students told their friends to hold their things for them so that they wouldn’t get referred. Some students didn’t get their electronics back, while others did. After first period, there were a lot of students sitting outside the PPO office. They did the random search to teach us students not to bring items that are banned from school.

Experiences About the Schedule Changes

My schedule didn’t change at all. I was a little disappointed because I still have Career Ed, and I was hoping to be in 8B. I had new classmates in my electives. There were fewer students in some of my classes, while my other classes had a lot more. We had to restart our lessons so that the new students can catch up. In my core classes, we had new students from either 8B or 8C. I was happy because some of my friends from 8B and 8C are now in 8A.
